Matty's Place

Open House

On January 28, 2025, we opened the doors to Matty’s Place, our newest Healing House, welcoming the community to see firsthand how this thoughtfully designed space will provide safe, stable housing for those who need it most.

During the event, guests toured the building, learned about our Healing House design, and saw how Matty’s Place will create lasting impact. This open house was an opportunity to connect, share our vision, and celebrate the power of community-driven housing solutions.

As part of JPWC’s commitment to meeting people where they’re at, Matty’s Place is a sober site, providing a structured, supportive environment for individuals seeking stable housing in a substance-free setting. This development features 12 units of affordable housing, built using our Healing House model—a design shaped by our deep understanding of how architecture influences well-being, safety, and connection.

At JPWC, we know that housing is more than just a place to live—it’s a space that can heal, empower, and restore dignity. Our Healing House model ensures that every element of the design supports stability and fosters community for those who need it most.

Stay tuned for more updates as Matty’s Place officially opens its doors to residents!

Honouring Matty’s Legacy

Matty’s Place is named in memory of our friend Matty—an Edmontonian, son, brother, and dedicated JPWC volunteer. A skilled welder with a kind and generous spirit, Matty faced personal struggles with substance use and tragically lost his life to drug poisoning alone in his apartment.

Matty’s Place was created to honour his memory and ensure no one has to face these challenges alone.

It stands as a testament to community, dignity, and hope, providing a safe, supportive space for those rebuilding their lives.
